Rio Helmi is one of Indonesia's leading and most internationally-recognised photographers. He was born and educated in Europe, but has spent most of his life in his home country. His photos and articles have appeared in major international books and periodicals as well as Indonesia's leading magazines and newspapers.
He is the photographer of Bali Style, published by Thames & Hudson (UK) and the Vendome Press (USA) and River of Gems, a story of his travels up the Mahakam River of Kalimantan with writer Lorne Blaire.
In 1990, he was chief photographer and assignments editor of Indonesia: Voyage through the Archipelago, which featured the work of 45 of the world's most outstanding photographers.
