| Inaugurated by Chandras Bose, of the Indian National Army, in July 1945, and demolished by British forces in September 1945, soon after they retook Singapore. What we have today is a 'monument to the monument', a sort of commemorative text on a bronze tablet that tells us the story of the INA monument. The illustration above is taken from this second-order monument. According to the text that on the memorial, the original monument was inscribed with the following text: |
