public art: weblog

Asian Public Art News
Art and similar interventions in public space. Coverage moves outwards from Singapore through Asia to the rest of the world. Like nothing else, the idea of "public art" exposes the contradiction inherent in our ideas of "the public" and of "art".

  links cloud as a self-portrait
A little project that makes use of the excellent Textorizer, by Max Froumentin, and plays around with the unique qualities of SVG files (SVG or scaleable vector graphics is an XML flavor that renders, well, scaleable vector graphics...).

The result is a cloud of hyperlinkable text tags in the shape of (in this case) a self-portrait. We are what we link to... Why am I including it here? Well, it sort of gestures to art, and it is public...

More more info, check out the textorizer pool on Flickr. I'm appealing for some programming help to make this into a web-based little offering...this sort of thing would look so much better using Max's Textorizer II.
