Asian Public Art News
Art and similar interventions in public space. Coverage moves outwards from Singapore through Asia to the rest of the world. Like nothing else, the idea of "public art" exposes the contradiction inherent in our ideas of "the public" and of "art".

London street spectacular - The Sultan's Elephant
Giant puppets make for a spectacular street art event. Not a guerilla type thing - no doubt this production required very close cooperation with city authorities. But the effect looks terrific... First found out about this on Pat Cadigan's Flickr blog (she's a terrific scifi writer).

Those of you who know me will know of my very great weakness for street processions with elephants..

Later I saw the BBC coverage. No doubt this was a useful bit of street theatre to take Labour's mind off their dismal election performance...
